HPC became a division of The Maddox Company in 1989. At that time, The Maddox Company was active in the hearth products industry as a manufacturers representative, one-step & two-step distributor, and as a manufacturing division. Since then, HPC enjoyed double digit growth every year. In 2001, HPC was split off (not sold) as a separate corporation.

The foundation of HPC was built on safety pilot valves, millivolt (on/off) valves, and remote control kits, as well as various other hearth products. In 2003, HPC diversified its thinking and introduced its first Outdoor Fire Effects line which included fire pits, fire pit rings, fire pit kits, outdoor fireplace accessories, and more.

Located in Dayton, OH, HPC now has over 1400 distributors and retailers in North America in numerous industries including hearth, landscape, pool & spa, outdoor kitchen, patio furniture, and outdoor lighting.
