Why Do I Need Fire Glass?

Fire glass is a great alternative to the traditional look of gas logs. It is used to cover the burner in a gas fireplace or fire pit, which spreads out the flame to create a satisfying fire. Both stylish and contemporary, fire glass creates a dazzling effect that intensifies the flame. Fire glass is affordable, safe, virtually maintenance free, and never needs replacing.

What Makes Fire Glass Different?

Fire glass is made of tempered sheets of glass that are shattered into smaller pieces and then tumbled to wear down the sharp edges. Because it is tempered, it is able to withstand extreme temperatures and will radiate about 4 times as much heat when compared to gas logs or wood.

Always use fire glass in your gas fireplace or gas fire pit. Ordinary glass, like the kind you can buy at a hobby store, can pop and explode out of the fire. Certain types glass (like windshield glass) have a protective coating which could emit toxic fumes and smoke.

What Types of Fire Glass are Available?

Fire glass is typically available in ¼″ and ½″ sizes. It comes in an assortment of colors, both reflective and non-reflective. The main difference between these two is that the reflective glass has a polished mirror finish on one side that reflects more light. The non-reflective glass sparkles more uniformly for an even looking color and flame.

Fire glass is also available as gems and nuggets. These come in lots of colors and are larger and smoother than the other glass peices.

The great thing about fire glass coming in so many colors is that you don't have to choose just one. Combine a variety of colors and shapes to discover your own unique fire experience.
